Well I cant say that spring has really sprung in NYC. I hope that you are luckier than we are. I got this great picture from my friend Dylan Driessen and she really has the right idea. She is making her own spring by painting every nail a different hue. I just love it when you guys get creative. There are times that our nail color should be serious and there are times that we should have a fun happy accessory, right?

I have been in Bologna Italy for the last 4 days visiting one of the largest beauty shows of the year. I walked and walked and have seen many interesting and adventurous nails. I have been inspired, kept up with my workouts and I am proud to say I have even been eating pretty well while I have been here. I did partake in some amazing pasta and allowed myself to enjoy every bite- but I had plenty of greens too. I am leaving for the airport soon and have been up all night thinking about all the things I have seen and learned hanging with great creative minds like Ian Ginsberg from one of my favorite places to shop C.O. Bigelow (I always have one of his lip balms in my bag) and Maureen Kelly from Tarte as well as manufacturers and packaging designers. So many things to create! I cant wait to begin.

Backstage @Academy Awards with Anne Hathaway

Last night I was backstage with Anne Hathaway at the Academy Awards. Her red carpet dress is classic Valentino red and the nail a modern complement - KISS FROM A ROSE (a bold merlot creme). Not your typical red nail for Annie!

Later, for the ceremony, I changed Anne's color to my new personal favorite nude NAKED (a clean bare beige) on her nails and toes. It is the most glorious compliment to her alabaster skin and worked beautifully with all of the looks she wore last night.

Academy Award weekend is upon us. I have had the great honor of holding hands with some of our greatest actresses on the day they have won their Oscar. Renee Zellweger, Hilary Swank, Marion Cotillard,Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslett to name a few. I am blessed to do what I do and truly looking forward to doing something special this Sunday. But you know me-until it happens - mums the word!

The extraordinary Laura and Kate Mulleavy suprised us once again as the developed their collection and took us to the prairies of Kansas. The makeup by James Kalliardos had a caramel eye and lip. I coordinated the nail in No More Drama (sultry golden caramel) a shade I created to match the glorious color of Mary J Bliges skin tone.
both Lindsay and Karlie were closing the show in dresses inspired by Dorothys red slippers in the Wizard of Oz. I had no choice but to offer up an upcoming holiday shade whose working title is Jessica Rabbit.
I must say that my inspiration for making this color came from my Nyle Cmylo gown that I performed in at Feinsteins at the Regency recently.

Donna Karan is nothing short of iconic and I have the honor of working with her team season after season. I have also had the honor to sing at events for her. One being the unveling of the Apple on the west side highway park that was designed by her late husband.

For the fall 2011 runway show stylist Nicoletta Santoro asked for me to match the nail color to the lip. We chose Shape of My HEART (healthy blush) not sheer and not opaque to go with the pinky lilac statement lip.

Saturday February 12 we worked out first show at the tents at Lincoln Center for New York Fashion Week. The show was inspired by the American Indian in some ways. it included chunky knits and chantilly lace adn clean lines. The makeup was minimal, hair back and intentionally a bit messy, the nails short, round and red in Just Walk Away Rene. I always love a dark red nail dont you?

Last sunday I had the honor of polishing LAdy Gaga with Yellow Brick Road (available around 4/15) for the Grammy awards. It was thrilling to be with her as she birthed a new nation and even more thrilling to be with her as she won 3 Grammys.

I have had a busy week between the Grammys with Lady Gaga and New York Fashion Week. I will give a full update of my shows later - just wanted to show you a quick peek. We featured a caramel feeling nail to coordinate with the makeup look James Kaliardos created. The eye matched the lip which matched the nail Very modern. The closing looks of the show were Wizard of Oz inspired. Here are Karlie and Lindsay wearing Jessica Rabbit (out fall 2011) backstage at Rodarte today. The Mulleavy sisters blew it out of the water again!

I had the pleasure of working with an amazing entrepreneur Kim Kardashion on the W art issue on stands tomorrow but all over the internet today. The photographs were taken by Mark Seliger and the 'art' by Barbara Kruger who is known for her collages. The first few shots of Kim we were inspired by her gorgeous skin and so I went for my go to nude polish FASHION. Later we painted most of her body silver so it was my chance to use my brand new shade Today is a Fairytale on Kims fingers and toes. I am proud to be part of a project that put a real amazing womans shape in the nude on the cover of a prestigious fashion magazine!

Nailing Down Fashion Week: Spring 2011 Trend Report

It’s been a very busy week. Backstage was chaotic, but exhilarating all the same. And, as always, emerging from behind the curtain were all the beauty trends—nails included. Here are my picks for the top nail looks for spring 2011.

Eyes Like Nails: Matching your nail color to your eye makeup is one of the biggest (not to mention freshest) nail trends for spring 2011. At Badgley Mischka, I applied Fashion (a creamy nude-taupe) as the base and topped it with Glitter in the Air (a sky blue glitter available spring 2011) to perfectly complement the models’ silvery blue lids. At Donna Karan, I applied Believe (a shimmering gold-beige) to coordinate with the luminous gold shadow, and at Lela Rose harmonized the barely-there eye look with PYT (a sheer creamsicle).

Nude Nails: The nude nail may not seem like new news, but for spring 2011 there’s a twist: true, flesh-tone nudes are replacing soft, sheer beige and pink as the naked nail of choice. To create a clean, fresh, modern look, I used Naked (a true nude available spring 2011) at three shows and Fashion (a creamy nude-taupe) at Narciso Rodriguez.

Layering: Using two shades to create your own unique color is a growing a trend, and one I embraced at Badgley Mischka and Richie Rich. For Badgley Mischka I layered Fashion with Glitter in the Air, and at Richie Rich I gave every nail (all 20 of them) a different look by layering my glitter lacquers.

Emmys weekend in LA was great. Gorg weather(it's been so hot and muggy in NYC this summer)made it easy for me to get from one location to another. Sometimes it's just the little things that make your day go smoothly.

My first client was Aussie nominee Rose Byrne. Totally low key super cool. I layered a coat of Fashion over Waking Up in Vegas to create a sort of modern muddy brownish gray.

Next stop with Lea Michelle from Glee. It was her bday so we toasted her and I sang a bluesy rendition of Happy Birthday to her. She was happy because no one sings TO HER she is always asked to sing to others. Lea was going to be wearing the navy Oscar de la Renta (the color of the night). She wanted to look modern so we chose my new Lady is a Tramp navy with silver 'sequins'. I applied two coats as is on her toes and for her nails I applied two very thin on her nails. Lea is on everyones best dressed list today!

Final stop was with the january Jones. We did a long 'Mad Men' almond shape tip and I used Dark Side of the Moon very aubergine nail color with her electric Blue Versace gown. January was the only great risk taker on the red carrot and I think she pulled it off beautifully. Her bed head hair was styled by my friend Mark Townsend. The hair had to look undone to make the look work. I must say January is breathtaking and a lot of fun!
Off to the airport to return to NYC and prep for fashion week.

Working on fashion editorial shoots are the most creative and inspiring shoots that I do. I team up with different photographers,fashion stylists, models, hair and makeup to come together to create the 'look' that will end up on the fashion page bringing to life a vision of how fashion can come together. I might see the same fashion on several different shoots but watch it come to life in a completely different way thru the eyes of a different team. My words of wisdom for today- We are all individual and should dance to our own drummer in the way that we style ourselves.

As many of you may (or may not) music is my first love. I am a professional jazz singer (still) and that was the inspritaion behind naming all of my products after song titles.
My cover photo on my second cd entitled VINYL features a head shot of me and a gorgeous hand with long nails painted in Fade To Black. The hand does not belong to me but to SUPERMODEL Lara Stone. Lara married David Wulliams (Little Britain star) last weekend in London and I was honored that she asked me to sing to them at the nuptials. What a gift she gave to me! I wish them love health and happiness and the same for all of you. Keep those dreams alive. I know its been a long time since I have blogged. I have been on the road alot. First to Cosmoprof one of the largest if not the largest cosmetic convention in the world where I was honored as Visionary Woman of Nails the Great creator of Aveda Horst Rechelbacher was the Visionary man of hair. When the conference was winding up we we were stuck in italy for an additional week due to the iclandic volcano. We made lemonade out the the situation and crusied ROme up one side and down the other and then joined colleagues in Florence and ate and drank and took a segway cruise around the city with a great guide. We spend one day driving to some special wineries in Tuscany with Shelly and Jennifer and Paula my cannuck friends. It was divine!

Had a great time in Chicago Oakbrook Nordstrom yesterday. We are coming out of a harsh winter and into spring slowly but surely (although it was snowing like crazy in Chicago yesterday). If your cuticle are dry you must use cuticle remover once a week and push your cuticle back and then hydrate it with cuticle oil with jojoba and vitamin E. Every time you wash your hands you should apply rich girl hand and cuticle cream and massage it into your cuticle. my mantra is Moisture Moisture Moisture!

The march issue talks about differents tools I use to push back through a plateau. I am LOVING my polar heart rate monitor that does everything but actually work out for me.
It pushes be to get my heat rate in the correct zone and helps me make sure I move to the next level when the time comes and always keeps me on longer and working harder. Sometimes its in the little things that we become better.
the road is long... but worth every step along the way... even the steps backwards!

I worked on the current Yves Saint Laurent fashion campaign that hit magazines this month. The campaign was photographed by Inez Van Lamsveerde and Vinoodh Matadin in NYC featuring supermodel Natalia Vodianova. Designer Stefano Pilati headed up the creative. I used the shade Stop and Stare on Natalias nails and toes finishing the look with Addicted to Speed uber quick dry with an incredible shine. I am thrilled to see the finished product in the magazined and how prominent the nails are in some of the photos. We worked very long shoot days to get every light and shadow right. Its worth every minute when you see the final campaign. I am proud of this one!

It has been full steam ahead for NY fashion week. Lots of preparation goes into putting my nail team together each season. Always looking forward to working with new talented manicurists from around the country. I also have to meet with the designers prior to the shows to see their inspiration and work with the team on the nail look. This season I worked on 6 shows.

Narciso Rodriguez (always a minimalist at heart) spoke to me about a very groomed cuticle and nails and toes buffed to a high gloss.
get the look:First we shaped the nails- short and rounded, applied cuticle remover to push the cuticle back and remove excess cuticle from the nail plate. Next we hydrated with cuticle oil and Rich Girl hand and cuticle cream. We finished the look by gently buffing the nails to a high gloss finish.

Zac Posen s girl for fall 2010 is a 'Chelsea Girl' Young downtown girl with a fresh 'blush' nail. Color: My Romance (hanky panky pink)
get the look :
Begin by shaping the nails making sure they are all the same length, groom the cuticle (this is key to perfect nails). Push the cuticle back and then hydrate (refer to the 'how to video on my site). We used ridgefiller base coat which is my go to base coat for a perfect foundation under nail color, then 2 coats of My Romance to give the nails a rosey blush look. Finish with Addicted to Speed ultra high gloss quick dry top coat (a must have for me backstage at fashion shows).

Badgley Mischka's fall 2010 show featured both their luxe gowns and their new Mark and James collection. We rocked Marquee Moon (futuristic sequined silver) on the nails and toes.
get the look: begin with a full manicure shaping nails evenly and rounded. Grooming and hydrating cuticle (refer to my manicure how to video). We made the plate of the nails perfect by applying ridgefiller as our base coat. Next we applied 2 very thin coats of Marquee Moon. This ultra modern shade has what I call 'sequins' in it. Each nail will not have the same amount of 'sequins'. It is 'deconstructed'. We finished the look with Addicted to Speed ultra high gloss quick dry top coat.

Adam's girl is earthy urban warrior. Lots of beige and gold in his fabrics. We decided on a modern beige nail- what I call the 'new' nude- Fashion a not -so-typical taupe.
get the look- again we opted for short rounded nails. When wearing a real nude I make sure to buff the nails with my Smooth Operator. This buffer has 4 carefully chosen fabrics to take natural nails from rough to smooth -- gradually without damaging or thinning the nail plate. When I am going to use polish I do not use the 4th fabric (number 4 on your Smooth Operator). I apply ridgefiller base coat. I let it dry a minute and follow with 2 thin coats of Fashion. Then finished with Addicted to Speed ultra high gloss.

Jill Stuart's collection is inspired by women who aren't afraid of mixing prints and silhouettes and textures. So we went for a soft beautiful 'lady like' nail with my newest nude shade I'm Not Innocent (clean,creamy peach)
get the look - nails were short and rounded. One thin coat of ridgefiller as the 'foundation'. Followed by 2 thin coats of I'm Not Innocent. TIP:Resist the temptation to try to get the bottle tone of the color in one coat. When applying a 'nude creme' you won't get the true tone until you apply the second coat. once again Addicted to Speed gave the finishing touch for a high gloss nail.

Lela Rose When I saw Lela's fabrics I knew I had to propose a shade from my upcoming fall collection. Across the Universe -a sheer navy base with electric green and blue 'sequins'.(available in late august).
get the look: begin as always with a full fledged manicure. Perfectly filed nails and perfectly pushed back cuticle are a must.
One coat of ridgefiller base coat. Let dry 60 seconds. 2 thin coats of Across the Universe (again let each coat dry 60 seconds before continuing). Finish with Addicted to Speed.

I am back in Los Angeles for the Screen Actors Guild Awards. Today I had the privelege of prepping hands and feet of two great actresses. Gabourey Sidibe stars as Precious in a very very powerful first time perfomance. Tonight she is wearing Ruby Red Slippers on her hands and feet to her first time at the SAGS. Next I prepped birthday girl and star of Law and Order SVU Mariska Hargitay. She wore a stunning Vera Wang gown in a sort of raspberry. We chose Lady is a Tramp (sanguine red) on both her nails and toes. She looked major! The trend I am seeing is matching your fingers and your toes-- old school!

heading back to NY tomorrow.
Grammy awards next week. I am racking up the air miles already this year!

Day after Globes.
One of the fun slash stressful parts of my job is working in award show season.
Fun because I am working with beautiful, talented, fashion forward actresses and part of the process of putting their total look together down to their toes. The stress comes in when I am trying to get from one place to another safely in crazy LA traffic-- and yesterday was complicated with rain.
All's well that ends well and in the end the gorgeous gals I worked with all rocked different glam looks on the red carpet.
Penelope Cruz keeping it clean and simple wearing Night and Day (sheer pinked beige) to compliment her glowing bronzed skin.
Marion Cotillard wearing Don't Tell Mama (mood ring blue/green). Marion wore a deep green very sexy Dior gown and wanted her nails and feet to match while being chic and modern.
Kate Hudson wore a stunning white Marchesa gown and we wanted to steer away from anything with a possible bridal feeling on the nails. Stylist guru Rachel Zoe chose Lady is a Tramp (classic sanguine red) and it was just the thing to 'finish' Kate's look.

It's the holiday season. I added yet another layer of Happy Birthday to my toes today. It makes me giggle when I look down. And my pilates instuctor Shona enjoys seeing it twinkle as she makes me do many difficult exercises with my toes revealed. Tomorrow we are going to deliver toys to a school in my neighborhood in Harlem am and sing christmas carols. I better wake up early to vocalize first- its been a while! Then off to grocery shop for the holiday. Cant wait!

Tip for today.
When wearing the new glitter or 'sequined' polishes, apply my ridge filler base coat first.
Let it dry 2 minutes before applying color. This will help your glitter or 'sequined' polishes adhere easily.
Apply one THIN coat of color-- like Marquee Moon or Ruby Red Slippers.
Let it dry to 2 minutes.
Hint:Resist the temptation to apply too much polish on the nail at one time. You will get better coverage and more glitter if you apply thin coats slowly!
Finish with top coat of your choice. I usually use Addicted to Speed.

The texture of the mitts grips the glitter while the gentle formula of the Stripper gently takes the color away! Try to resist rubbing. Just press down on each nail while it is in the mitt and let the Stripper do its thing!

I became a professional singer in the teens. After receiving a bachelor of arts in music performance I realized I needed to find another way to make sure I was able to pay the rent. I went to my next passion beauty and entered myself in to the Allure College of Beauty in Scottsdale AZ. I decided to become a manicurist so that I could sit down and hold hands with clients all day and stand up and sing all nigh. I moved to NYC to pursue music and become a better artist. My world took a few different twists and turns and my big career as a nail artist in fashion began. The Deborah LIppmann Collection product line followed, but all the while I have continued singing. Last Monday night I had one of the most extraordinary evenings of singing as i headlined at FEINSEINS at the REGENCY hotel in Manhattan. My band hit hard and supported me like no other.

I am a professional singer with a degree in music. Manicuring was essentially meant to be my 'waitressing' job.
Monday November 2nd I debuted my new show 'NAILED' at FEINSTEINS (as in Michael Feinstein) at the Regency Hotel on Park Avenue in NYC. It was the first time I truly married my two passions. My show was conceived by grammy award winning producer Allen Sviridoff and I told stories about my life and sangs some of my favorite tunes. The room was filled with friends--old and new and my band rocked the house! Music is my dream and I encourage you all to keep your dreams alive!

I have been a road warrior this week. I travelled to los angeles to shoot a W magazine cover followed by a Vogue magazine cover (sorry I cant reveal the identities of the celebs we photographed but I do love them both). Hit a plane to Az ( my home town) to attend the grand opening of the new BARNEYS store in Scottsdale. I hob nobbed with SImon Doonan (creative director of Barneys who is always a hoot and a holler), Robert Black (visited his cool new vintage store FASHION by Robert Black- and yes I will be sending him many bottles of my shade called FASHION) and a host of other Scottsdale fashionistas. I jetted back to LA for a commercial shoot with Ellen Degenerous (cant reveal any secrets about Idol either-- I know- I am just no fun). I had the honor of manicuring Portia and Ellen for their nuptials last year and I also serenaded them. I am going to be singing that tune in my show at FEINSTEINS on November 2nd and Ellen actually suggested that I tell the audience the story. So I have her blessing- pretty great! Then I flew BACK to Arizona for a Nordstrom trend show that was tons of fun. Sunday was my birthday and we arrived in NY in the evening and had a feast with my great friend Kathryn Sumner MacLeod who shares the same bday with me. Phew. Now I am back at work and shooting the spring Yves Saint Laurent campaign. Phew! Life is good, no? My new shades Happy Birthday, Wicked Game , Dont Tell MAMA and the Celebrate set are a huge success. Thank you to all of you for getting behind strong modern colors on your nails and toes!

We were in Seattle for the NOrdstrom trend show where more than 500 women came to learn about cosmetic trends for the upcoming season. I was lucky to have Rachelle Adams ( my number 1 manicurist doing manicure/pedicure daily in the spa with my technique and products) to walk the runway sporting SUPERSTAR (from my new CELEBRATE) on her nails and toes. My husband Jude is on the far side of the stage wearing FOOTLOOSE exfoliating slippers-- he took a turn walking the runway himself. The women went wild!
My new favorite customer is not afraid to wear Funky Chunky (textured black with sequins-- not meant to be shiny sparkly but TEXTURED on the nail- its a NEW look in nail polish) but initially thought that Ruby Red Slippers (sheer black with red glitter in a very adult fashion) was too strong a look.
I hope I changed her mind! Look how adorable she is!

this season my team and I worked the nail looks for Julie Haus, Lela Rose, Marchesa, Narcisso Rodriquez, Zac Posen and Rodarte

The look at RODARTE (the current darlings of the fashion world)
The nails are FUNKY CHUNKY (insert color description) we used 2 coats which looked very textural not sparkly and finished the look with addicted to speed for high gloss .
backstage at Marchesa we cleaned the nails filed them round and matched fingers and toes in fashion (not so typical taupe)
Matching nails and toes is a definite trend for the spring 2010 season) . The clothes were like a fairyland and literally took my breath away!
Zac Posen personally chose DAYTRIPPER (pink melon melange) for the nails and toes to match with his colorful spring collection.

NY FASHION week is in full swing! I started this am early doing nails for the Lela Rose Show. We used FASHION ( my favorite modern neutral nail ) on fingers on toes. From there I swung by the hair and make up test for the CFDA fashioin design winners ( and my friends) RODARTE. This is a much anticipated show. I saw the clothes and I am super excited but I cant spill the beans!
I jumped over to the Marchesa hair and makeup test and now I am going to do the incredibly beautiful Megan Fox for tonights VMA awards. No rest for the wicked! I am loving it!

URGENT INFO ON SOME NEW LIPPMANN COLORS

ok I need to be clear about a couple of my new FASHION FORWARD colors--
FUNKY CHUNKY AND MARQUEE MOON are both meant to be worn in a NEW way.
both have 'sequins' as I like to call them and are meant not to look uniform on the nail.
Marquee Moon was created for the genius designers RODARTE's fall fashion collection and worn on the runway. Each nail is supposed to look different. You might get one 'sequin' on one nail and 10 'sequins' on the next nail. That is the way it is supposed to come out of the bottle so dont TRY to make the 'sequins'' come out and look the same on each nail.
Deconstructed is the look on both of these shades.
The way I love FUNKY CHUNKY is meant to be SHEER black with a 'sequin' here or there, and should look different from nail to nail. It comes in my new CELEBRATE set that I created for my 10th anniversary and when you get the box home the top of the box is what the color FUNKY CHUNKY looks like--- little known secret revealed!

As for the seasons run away hit RUBY RED SLIPPERS-- (also available in the new CELEBRATE set in stores)
it is a sheer black base with RUBY glitter and I didn't design it to be worn as solid glitter... just speckles here and there. So just apply it properly and let it be!

THE shades in CELEBRATE are amazing with the newest Christian Louboutin peep toes. Fashionistas beware!

For all three of these shades try to put away your OLD ideas of how polish should look.
Its a new season and a new way to wear nail color!

for those of you who love tried and true-- apply 3 coats of any of these (making sure to let each coat dry 1 minute before starting the next) to get a solid more traditional look.

nail polish is the new accessory-- let go and try something new!

I have had a weight problem my entire life. Up and down ... down and back up again. One year ago I saw therapist Lois Nachaie in NYC and had several sessions of hypnotherapy that I believe brought up some deep rooted emotional that needed to come out of my body! I have spent the last year following Weightwatchers.com and working out at Equinox gym taking all kinds of cardio classes. SHAPE magazine heard about my transformation and partnered with me to get the rest of my weight in control and find tools to keep it off forever. (PLEASE GOD!)
They will post a column every month for the next 12 months following my physical and very emotional journey-- we all know its connected, right?

the word is getting out on our exciting new CELEBRATE 10th anniversary set. it has been Mariah Carey mania in my life this week... in a good way. I spent 2 days with her shooting a Macy's commercial for her fragrances. The commercial is starring MC, Martha Stewart ( also a FAVORITE client of mine) Donald Trump, Jessica Simpson, Queen Latifah and Usher. Star studded. I was with MC when we got the news about the death of Michael Jackson. I will never forget that sad sad moment...I think we will all remember where we were when we heard that news.
The next couple days we spent at the Plaza Hotel in NYC city shooting her new video OBSEESED. The single will be available to download soon and I will be getting it as soon as its available. Its an addictive tune! You may have heard by now that MC portrays both herself and her OBSESSED fan in the video. She is the girliest girl I have ever known so it was quite a feat to turn her into the boy character. Lots of fun. And really fun to turn her back into the beauty she is. She wore Superstar and Before He Cheats on her nails. We totally took her length down for the male character. Kristofer Buckle created the amazing make-up (and achieved it in no time at all!) and Roque did the hair looks. We have worked as a team with Mariah for many years off and on. It was great to be back together again!

I spent the weekend in Southern California doing my final west coast personal appearance for the season. I was able to bring my neice on stage to strut her stuff demonstrating my favorite exfoliating slipper- footloose and her toes painted in Dark Side of the Moon. Helen, Linda and Linda handled the customer requests while Jude and I met one on one with customer after customer answering the most pressing nail questions. hope do I file my nails properly? Can I use all four fabrics on the Smooth Operator to smooth and shine my nails? show me how to use the cuticle remover to push back my cuticle and remove the dead skin on the nail plate. what is the best way to really hydrate my nails? *cutucle oil and rich girl hand and cuticle cream. we talked about using hydrating base coat with aloe to get moisture into these dry peeling nails. We also discussed getting your nails back to beautiful after wearing acrylics or nail wraps of gels. You must use one coat of my hard rock hydrating nail hardener and your nails will bounce back beautifully.

The CFDA awards (aka the OSCARS of fashion) were last night in Manhattan. Lippmann Collection was all over the runway.
Heidi Klum and Hilary Rhoda were luminous both wearing Baby Love sheer pink on their fingers and toes.

It is a strange summer in nyc so far. not much heat and lots of rain. I spent about a week and a half shooting with Inez and Vinoodh doing the whole issue of French Vogue. Every major designers signature look will be featured. We worked with several editors interpreting which is alway fun. Lots of nail changes for me.. which I ADORE!
Had a nice day off yesterday in the Hamptons with friends on the beach.... and it rained on us. But have no fear we just popped our umbrellas and continued our party! Life is short- so ENJOY THE MOMENTS!

We had a great time in San Diego talking beautiful nails. My niece Sarah Nederlander and husband Jude were walking the runway in my Footloose exfoliating slippers and we sold out of them! Rough dry feel just aren't sexy. Other keys to soft feet? Get off callous softener and Soul Mission exfoliating scrub (microdermabrasion for the feet). so who said working in fashion and with celebrities isnt glamorous?
It is nearly 3 am and I am on a shoot with the great Mariah Carey whom I love and adore. She is a night owl and is so creative!
We have been on a shoot since 1 pm and being the nail diva that she is we are doing lots of nail color changes. We started the day with her wearing her personal favorite lippmann shade-- FASHION. The second shot we went with Believe ( a soft silvered gold combo). We did a retro look and she wore Stop and Stare and it has been a long time since I have put a red on MC. We are doing the last shot now and she is wearing a color that wont be out until Fall 09.... Wicked Game a sort of mood ring thing that I am bringing back from my VINYL line. Look for it soon. All the other shades are available NOW!!

Memorial day weekend has had a very special meaning to me because Jude and I were married on Memorial Day 11 years ago.
This year I want to remember my special friend Wayman Tisdale who bravely battled cancer with his incredible heart and spirit and could fill an arena. I first met Wayman when he played basketball for the Phoenix Suns... he became a client and his feet literally didnt fit in my portable pedicure tub. We would laugh every time! We then connected on the music level and I a was very proud of him as he grew an amazing career as a musician, post basketball.
I have lost a valuable friend and this memorial day I want us all to remember Wayman.

There was a segment on Anna Wintour on 60 minutes the other night and there were alot of photos of the MET ball. That is one of the fashion events of the season in NY where the new Costume Institute exhibit is unveiled at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
It is the who's who in fashion and this year was hosted by Marc Jacobs accompanied by Kate Moss.
I ran around NYC all day getting gals ready for the gala.
Best Actress Academy Award winner Marion Cottilard wore Dior on her body and Baby Love on her nails and toes.

Gossip Girl Blake Lively wore Versace on her body and Fashion on her nails and toes.

marc's muse Selma Blair wore Marc Jacobs on her body and Fade to Black on her nails and toes.
What do they all have in common? Matching colors on fingers and toes is IN IN IN!

I just arrived back in NY after a very successful event in Nordstrom Paramus NJ. I was meeting with back to back customers giving prescriptions for beautiful hands and feet and I looked up to see 3 of my very closest friends who had made the trek out to NJ unbeknownst to moi! It brought such a smile to my face!
thank you to everyone at Nordstrom for making this season of my NORDSTROM WORLD TOUR easier and more fun than every.
BEAUTIFUL NATURAL NAILS ARE ABSOLUTELY possible for EVERYONE!.

mornin sunshines!
as many of you know magazines usually work about 3 months out... so I have been busy painting nails for photo shoots in the Fall books. Glitter and glam is the best way to describe nail looks for next fall and I have been working with some of our young Hollywood and music celebs. Nail color is the new accessory dont you know!
As we are about to launch into full on summertime-- now is the time to pay attention to your GROOMING.
You may ask yourself
Am I applying my cuticle remover and pushing my cuticles once a week? And hydrating them daily with cuticle oil with jojoba and vitamin E?
Am I applying Rich Girl hand and cuticle cream with SPF 25 every time I wash my hands and ALWAYS before I walk out the door into the sunshine?
Am I always wearing both base coat and top coat?
these are a few good tips to keep your nails in tip top shape.
Remember nail color is IN IN IN-- I am going to get a pedicure today and cant wait to wear Call Me Irresponsible.

Packing my bag for a trip to Philly to meet with anyone who wants to have their nails assessed tomorrow April 25 at the King Of Prussia Nordstrom. I will be speaking at the trend show and then giving a seminar on nail care followed by one on one customer nail evaluation and color suggestions. Come early to get a good seat!

Had a great week mosting in the lippman collection office working on product development. Part of the process is freeing and part of it is troubling…. Until it all comes together. It is a creative process mixed with straight up business… and sometimes the twain don’t meet!
I am reinventing a large set of products to contain my most requested items and it is a bit of a jigsaw puzzle making everything fit just so.
As of 5 pm on Friday night… I think I have it together. Now I take the weekend away from it and walk in with a fresh thought on Monday. Keep your fingers crossed!

I am also looking forward to seeing my best friend Darrell Brown accompany LeAnn Rimes on the Today Show tomorrow am with a song they co-wrote that is now a book. Things I cannot Change—that says a lot doesn’t it?

Its Easter Night and I just flew from NY to Chicago to meet the team at Barney Chicago Michigan Ave and train them on the Lippmann Collection products as we are now available in the Chicest store in Chicago. I am SO EXCITED!!

inez and vinoodh honored by the Blue School

I work on many photo shoots both editorial and advertising with the incredibly genius photographers Inez Van Lamsveerde and Vinoodh Matadin. This seasons Gucci, YSL, Balmain, Roberto Cavalli and Dior to name a few that are in magazines now. When you work day in and day out on a photographic team you become an extended family. Inez and Vinoodh were honored Thursday night at the Blue School Gala and they invited me to join them at the soiree. The team who created the show Blue Ma Group founded the Blue School and innovative creative concept in education. Jon Stewart of the Daily Show was the hilarious host. He has 2 children that attend the school. There were several performers including Billy Crudup , the PC guy from the mac computer commercials, an all girl accordion playing orchestra and the Blue Men themselves! Fun Fact- did you know that the creators of the Blue Man Group and Jon Stewart are all former cater waiters of Glorious Foods? Everyone comes from somewhere so keep dreaming and work to fulfill those dreams. Now there's food for thought.

Campaign season is in full swing!

Campaign season is in full swing. Once all of the fashion shows are finished-- NY , Milan and Paris-- the designers need to shoot their campaigns. Last week I was on the CK campaign with 2 beautiful young girls and one hot young boy (no surprise there for Calvin Klein, right?)

Most people think that my job is very glamorous-- well picture me at 6 am leaving my apartment wearing long underwear, 3 layers of sweaters a coat scarf and hat and lugging my manicure kit which weighs 50 lbs on a light day (because you just never know what you will need) and spending the day OUTSIDE on the photo shoot. That is all I can divulge for now. But look for some great clothes from CK in the fall!!

Last week was nicely mixed. A day in the lab working on new colors and trends --- finishing up concepts for fall/winter 09 . Just a little hint…. Twinkle, sparkle and shine! I spent 2 days on set with Kate Winslet (did you hear that she is an Academy Award winner now?!) and the extraordinary photographer Steven Meisel. The make up and hair team were none other than Stephan Marais and Oribe. If you haven’t snapped up some of Oribe’s new hair products I recommend you run to the nearest salon and get hooked! The fragrances are to die for! I finished up the week working with up and coming model Drees Hemingway (great granddaughter of earnest and daughter of great beauty Mariel). We photographed her wearing Marquee Moon created for the fall Rodarte fashion show – sorry kids cant get it until july at Nordstrom. But it will be worth the wait! When I created the nail look for Tom Ford with Scarlett Johansson and Keira Knightley for this iconic Vanity Fair cover back in 2006, little did I know that I would be re-visiting the look three years later on the new legends of comedy--Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and Paul Rudd. The four jokesters kept us in stitches all day. When Paul Rudd blew in Seth Rogen's ear I almost wet myself. I can tell you none of the fab four are regular manicure guys, I think this was their first, which made it all the better.

As you know I spent the majority of last week working backstage at various fashion shows. One again I was blessed to have nail colors from my collection be among the trends seen on the runways. At Domenico Vacca my team and I polished on Pump Up the Jam, my boysenberry bijoux.. Devi Kroell’s team decided on my not-so-typical taupe, Fashion. Staying true to his love for purple, Zac Posen chose Dark Side of the Moon, an absolute aubergine that complemented his ‘romantic meets modern’ look. However, my favorite color of the week was the custom color I created for Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the designers of Rodarte. For their runway show, the models were polished with a metallic silver that contained sequined looking glitter. Although this color was designed specifically for the fashion show, it will be available for everyone to buy this fall!
