As you know I spent the majority of last week working backstage at various fashion shows. One again I was blessed to have nail colors from my collection be among the trends seen on the runways. At Domenico Vacca my team and I polished on Pump Up the Jam, my boysenberry bijoux.. Devi Kroell’s team decided on my not-so-typical taupe, Fashion. Staying true to his love for purple, Zac Posen chose Dark Side of the Moon, an absolute aubergine that complemented his ‘romantic meets modern’ look. However, my favorite color of the week was the custom color I created for Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the designers of Rodarte. For their runway show, the models were polished with a metallic silver that contained sequined looking glitter. Although this color was designed specifically for the fashion show, it will be available for everyone to buy this fall!

Kate Wins!

Helping Kate Winslet get ready to accept her very first Oscar yesterday was an incredible experience. She looked amazing in her YSL gown, so I polished her off with Baby Love (ga ga baby doll pink) for the finishing touch. I've been honored to share Oscar day with a few amazing winners, getting their hands ready to receive the little golden guy and feet groomed to step into Hollywood royalty.

Did I Shave My Legs For This?

The last three years I've been secretly perfecting the formula for a new ayurvedic shave cream. And I finally have it! It's called ‘did i Shave my legs for this?’ Ladies, even if you don't know the Deana Carter tune - you know what I mean! As they say in the music business " ‘did i Shave my legs for this?’ drops in stores this week".

I tried them all and put in what I loved and left out what I didn't, testing out various ingredients and formulations. I think I came up with a perfect blend of ayervedic green coconut water, withania root and exotic acai oil to soothe, moisturize, and tone. The creamy texture molds to your skin and creates a smoothing barrier that lubricates without clogging your razor! Shaving your legs will no longer be a task you dread. Instead, it will become the perfect way to indulge your skin and senses anytime, whether it’s before a weekend getaway or whenever you need a little pampering, even if you’re not quite sure he’s worth it.

Fashion Week Begins

Fashion week begins for me today! My team and I will be running from tent to tent polishing the finger tips and toes of gorgeous models at shows like Rodarte and Zac Posen. Fashion shows are a lot of work--prepping, getting a perfect team together, hair, makeup, nail tests with the designers. Being a part of the creative process that gets the designers clothes to the runway is such a thrill.

Last fall I was able to team up with Zac Posen to create a special nail color for his models. That color was such a hit it launched on my website several weeks ago to become the first color in my designer series. Purple Rain, Zac’s signature twinkling lilac, is the perfect shade for spring. After creating such a fantastic color with such a remarkable designer, I can’t wait to see what might come out of fashion week this time around!

Some days I get more excited than others when I am heading out the door to go to the studio. Last week I worked with the great actress Jessica Lange for the very first time, and I could hardly wait to meet her. Not only is she an amazing talent but also a great beauty, and to my delight she has beautiful nails! She has a new film coming out soon in which she co-stars with Drew Barrymore--Grey Gardens. Look for it--you know I will be!

I had a super duper surprise blessing this month when I opened up my issue of Vanity Fair and started to read about Alicia Keys and her favorite things.
